Phase II of the Haisheng Lithium Battery Separator Project Commences Operations with Eight Production Lines
Release Date:
2024-12-12
Recently, at the Yangqu Industrial Park within Shanxi’s Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone, the commissioning of the Luyu 35 kV Substation (Jinxi Line No. 2) marked the official connection of power to Buildings No. 103 and No. 104 of Phase II of the Housheng Lithium-Battery Separator Project, enabling the full-scale operation of eight production lines. With this milestone, all 16 production lines of the Housheng Lithium-Battery Separator Project are now fully operational, establishing an annual production capacity of 2 billion square meters of lithium-battery separators. The project is expected to generate annual sales exceeding RMB 10 billion and is committed to providing the world’s leading solutions for lithium-battery separators.

With this milestone, all 16 production lines of the Housheng Lithium-Battery Separator Project are now fully operational, establishing an annual production capacity of 2 billion square meters of lithium-battery separators and projecting annual sales exceeding RMB 10 billion. The company is committed to providing the world’s leading solutions for lithium-battery separators.

The Housheng Lithium-Battery Separator Project is a key provincial-level project, invested in and constructed by Shanxi Housheng New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. The project is being developed in two phases: Phase I involves a total investment of RMB 2.3 billion, covers an area of 250 mu, and includes the construction of Buildings No. 101 and No. 102, which will house a total of eight lithium-battery separator production lines; full production was achieved at the end of 2023. Phase II has a total investment of RMB 2.335 billion, spans 237 mu, and plans for two state-of-the-art buildings—No. 103 and No. 104—along with the addition of another eight lithium-battery separator production lines. Upon commissioning, the lithium-battery separators produced under this project will boast fully independent intellectual property rights, reach internationally advanced standards, fill a domestic gap, and be capable of replacing imports; they are already successfully deployed in the 3C sector.
Since the project’s inception, the dedicated task force for the Housheng Project in the Yangqu Industrial Park has proactively visited the project site, engaged in close communication and coordination with company personnel, promptly collected, collated, and consolidated issues, and coordinated efforts to advance their resolution. The Housheng lithium-battery separator project represents the largest single investment in the park’s history, necessitating the park to re-engineer and upgrade its infrastructure—such as water, electricity, and steam supplies—to meet the enterprise’s capacity requirements. To ensure sufficient power supply for the second phase of the project upon its official commissioning, the Park Service Center, in collaboration with Shanxi Transformation Industrial Park Group Co., Ltd., conducted multiple rounds of consultations with State Grid Taiyuan Power Supply Company and agreed to designate the Lvyu 35 kV substation (Jinxi Line No. 2) exclusively for Housheng’s Phase II operations. Over more than two months of intensive construction, the task force coordinated solutions to challenges such as tree relocation and cable laying, thereby securing the power needs of the second phase. On the steam front, the park adopted an innovative approach to investment promotion by leveraging supply-chain-based recruitment, entering into contractual agreements with a steam-supply provider to reduce the cost of steam from approximately RMB 420 per ton to RMB 260 per ton, significantly lowering the enterprise’s production costs. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the entire task force, the longstanding challenges related to power and steam supply for the Housheng Project have been successfully resolved, ensuring the smooth commissioning of the project.
